Georgian president is not surprised by a protest mood of the population. President Mikhail Saakashvili said at a public lesson on democracy in the Tbilisi school 10 that he is not surprised that nearly 60,000 people have gathered in Dinamo National Stadium in Tbilisi.
"About 500,000 people voted against me and of course part of them is expressing their discontent," Saakashvili said.
"Of course, we have problems. The people lives with difficulty and they can express its discontent," he said.
Saakashvili also stressed that there are disgruntled because they were sacked from their jobs. "Nearly 50,000 people have been fired from the civil service in recent years. Some of them live in Tbilisi and naturally they express their discontent. We had no other way. Otherwise, we would not have a state," he said and added that he respects views of citizens gathered at the stadium.
The democracy is that everybody can express opinion, he said. "We have independent state and everybody here can have their say even if it is targeted against authorities," the Georgian president said.
