OSCE Parliamentary Assembly chairman re-elected

Joao Soaresh has been re-elected the chairman of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly in the 18th Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vilnius, Kazakh Senate reported.

Soaresh's counterparts appraised his major contribution to develop organization in his term of office and unanimously reelected him the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly, Kazakh Senate said.

The 18th annual session adopted its concluding document, the Vilnius Declaration, the same source said.

The Declaration contains the 28 adopted resolutions. Among them are the Strengthening of the OSCE, election observation, the food security in the OSCE area, the world financial crisis and the social consequences of that crisis, Iran, Afghanistan, human rights and civil liberties, arms control and disarmament in Europe, labor migration in Central Asia, energy security, climate change, water management, freedom of expression on the Internet, and a moratorium on the death penalty.
