Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov thanked Imperator Akihito for an invitation to Japan with an official visit. The president will visit the country of Sunrise during the year.

Kono said Japan is prepared to offer new its experience and new technologies and to take an active part in programs sanctioned in Turkmenistan.
Earlier, representatives of Japanese business circles, including heads of the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), the External Trade Organization (JETRO), as well as famous companies Itochu, Mitsubishi, Marubeni, Mitsui, Komatsu, and JGC, visited Ashgabat.
Japan stated in its readiness to offer new unique technologies and equipment, privileged and long-tern loan for construction of different economic facilities of Turkmenistan. Si offered delivery of gas desulphurization device. Komatsu and Itochu Corporation offered new excavators and road technique, as well as spare parts to them.
Furthermore, the discussions covered projects related to increasing capacities of polypropylene manufacturing enterprises, built by a consortium of Japanese companies in oil refinery plant in Turkmenbashi. Japan was interested in increasing export of polypropylene and construction of gas purifying devices. Opportunities for building the water desalinating devices in the cAspian were studied.
The Turkmen-Japanese committee on economic cooperation was established in 1994. The committee realized many projects in the oil and gas field, transport, health, textile industry and amelioration.
