The President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez is expected to make the first official visit to Turkmenistan in next days, national TV channel Altin Asir reported on September 5.
The information is provided with reference to a source in the office of the President of Turkmenistan. Through the television, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of such meetings, which are "a good basis for further promotion of mutually beneficial, long-term cooperation both with neighbors and with partners from other continents."
In the comment on Chavez's visit, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan notes that Turkmenistan and Venezuela established diplomatic relations in 1996.
The information also states that the two countries, "proceeding from their own national interests and priorities, have great potential and opportunities for equal cooperation on a broad range of spectrum." The agenda includes the development of partnership in socio-economic, cultural, humanitarian, scientific and educational spheres.
