Head of U.S Orthodox Church visits Georgia

The head of the American Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, Jonah (James Paffhausen) arrived in Georgian with an official visit on Oct.12. The American delegation includes Deacon Leonid Kishkovsky, Deacon Alexander Garklav, Archimandrite Zake and dean of the Georgian church named after St. Tandilashvili Nina Alexander in New York Archdeacon Cyril, the press service of the Georgian Patriarchate said.

The head of the American Orthodox Church, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, Jonah (James Paffhausen) arrived in Georgian with an official visit on Oct.12. The American delegation includes Deacon Leonid Kishkovsky, Deacon Alexander Garklav, Archimandrite Zake and dean of the Georgian church named after St. Tandilashvili Nina Alexander in New York Archdeacon Cyril, the press service of the Georgian Patriarchate said.

Today, the Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II met the U.S delegation at the Tbilisi International Airport. Later the Catholicos will receive the delegation at the patriarch's residence and then they will visit the University of Patriarchy St. Andrew the First-Called, where will be held the anniversary of the founding of the University.

On Oct.13-14, head of the American Orthodox Church will take part in a festive service in the Svetitskhoveli cathedral. The delegation's visit will last till Oct.18. The guests will visit the monastery complex David Gareji and Gelati.
