Azerbaijan undergoing democratic modernization: Center for Strategic Studies

Azerbaijan is undergoing modernization by improving its social democratic system, Azerbaijani Presidential Center for Strategic Studies head Elkhan Nuriyev said today at the "Obstacles to Security in the Caucasus: Realities and Prospects for Regional Cooperation" international conference.
Today the Center for Strategic Studies is holding the conference under a joint project with the British International Institute for Strategic Studies in Baku.
Nuriyev said the aim of the meeting is to analyze and discuss on how to bring peace and fruitful cooperation to the South Caucasus.
"Today's conference once again proves that Azerbaijan is a focus of international politics," he said, adding that Azerbaijan is an important nation from a geostrategical point of view.
Leaders and academics participated from leading think-tanks from around the world such as the International Institute for Strategic Studies (UK), Jamestown Foundation (U.S.), Johns Hopkins University (U.S.), Heritage Foundation (U.S.), and Institute for International Relations in Europe (Belgium).
The forum was attended by senior Azerbaijani state officials, MPs, international organization heads, diplomatic mission representatives accredited in the country, and mass media.
