PACE new co-rapporteur for Azerbaijan Joseph Debono Grech will pay his first visit to Baku with his colleague Andres Herkel in late February.

Meetings with both Azerbaijani governmental representatives and opposition are planned to be held during the visit, Grech told Trend over phone.

"It will be my first visit. I will try to hold all planned meetings. Afterwards, we will use received information in our work," Malta delegation in CE member Grech said.

Co-rapporteur said that now he is studying the information on Azerbaijan using different materials, including received from previous co-rapporteur Yevgeniya Zhivkova.

Grech was appointed PACE Monitoring Committee's new co-rapporteur for Azerbaijan at the meeting held on Nov. 19. While joining CE in 2001, Azerbaijan took some obligations. The Monitoring Committee controls their fulfillment.

Grech will meet with his colleague, Estonian delegation head Herkel, as well as representatives of PACE monitoring group next week. The sides will also exchange information during the meeting.

Co-rapporteurs will give information as a result of the visit to Azerbaijan during PACE winter session in January.
