Turkmenistan managed to achieve independence in solving regional and international issues, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a recent government meeting.
"Due to a combination of measures on foreign policy, we were able to reliably protect the country's interests and achieve independence in solving some regional and international issues. All these contributed to a significant increase in the rating of our country in the international community," Berdimuhamedov said appreciating the activity of the country's Foreign Ministry.
"We have established mutually beneficial relations with foreign companies, major international organizations, many countries, starting from close neighbors and ending with those who are remote from us, continued to conduct foreign policy based on 'open-door' policy and 'constructive cooperation,'" \Berdimuhamedov noted.
An official delegation of the Caspian countries at the highest level paid 15 foreign visits. During 2009 116 international agreements were signed. Turkmenistan has joined 10 international conventions and other multilateral international documents.
