Ministry of Emergency Situations finished the investigation on the fire occurred March 27 in Baku and will submit its results to the Cabinet of Ministers.

Depending on the results of the investigation Cabinet of Ministers will held the relevant activities in building where the fire occurred, Ministry of Emergency Situations told Trend today.

Strong fire in a three-storey residential building in the Ichari-Shahar (Inner Сity) of Baku at Boyuk Gala killed 2 people, 85-year old Akif Ahmadov and his wife 73-year old Elmira Akhundova at 21:00 March 27. The fire completely burned the properties of the residents.

About 20 fire engines and six ambulances were involved in extinguishing the fire.

The building burned in Ichari-Shahar, was on the balance of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve.

The causes of fire are clarified, Ministry of Emergency Situations said. Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Etibar Mirzayev told journalists on the scene that according to preliminary data, the fire occurred as a result of gas leakage.

If an offence is found in the incident, then the materials will be submitted to Sabail Region Prosecutor's Office in order to file a criminal case. The source said, according to unconfirmed information, the cause of the fire is short circuit of conductor cable.
