Iranian Deputy Interior Minister Mehdi Mohammadi Far, who is on official visit to Baku, has visited the Shamakhi city this morning, Iranian Embassy Spokesman Abbas Iskenderi told Trend.
During the Shamakhi visit, Mohammadi Far was accompanied by Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Bagir Bahrami, Iskenderi said.
The purpose of the visit is to study economic and cultural potential of the region, as well as its potential in livestock and agriculture.
Mohammadi Far met with Shamakhi City Executive Power Head Nazim Ismayilov.
He also visited the AZsamand plant in the city. Mohammadi Far expressed hope for further development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan May 3.
