The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) held a meeting between member-countries of NGOs and relevant institutions to assist Kyrgyzstan and improve the humanitarian situation in the country, the organization said.

Members of the conference pledged to render assistance to OIC for Kyrgyzstan to the amount of about $3,3 million, as well as donations.

The meeting was held in Istanbul June 29 with the participation of 15 NGOs. The organizations that were unable to attend the event, expressed their readiness to support efforts aimed at assisting internally displaced people at the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Three main issues, including the program of aid to Kyrgyzstan, reconstruction and rehabilitation of the country, as well as promoting social cohesion, were discussed at a meeting.

Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will be responsible for reconstruction and recovery. It promised to make the greatest contribution among the participants of the meeting to the amount of $2,2 million.
