The UK values highly its relations with Turkmenistan, Prime Minister David Cameron wrote in a letter to Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov this week.
Cameron thanked Berdimuhammedov for his congratulations on being appointed the British PM.
"I very much hope that our bilateral relations will develop in trade and energy, in Afghanistan, and in maintaining your efforts to promote civil society and the media," Cameron wrote.
His Royal Highness, the Duke of York recently visited Ashgabat and said he "had the chance to reaffirm our committed attitude (to Turkmenistan)," the letter read.
