The NATO international school's five-day summer session opened in Baku today. Participants will discuss financial security during the global crisis.

Azerbaijan-NATO cooperation began with the signing of a program document within the Partnership for Peace Program May 4, 1994. Azerbaijan was one of 27 OSCE member countries to join the program.

An official document envisaging concrete directions of cooperation was signed in April 1996. Azerbaijan is now fulfilling roughly 50 tasks in conformity with the program.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree approving an action plan to forge an individual partnership with NATO Aug. 3, 2005. Azerbaijan is currently in the second phase of the program.
