Azerbaijani intelligentsia to join opposition electoral bloc

Representatives of Azerbaijani intelligentsia will join the opposition electoral bloc, chairman of the Association of Azerbaijani Intelligentsia Eldeniz Guliyev told Trend.

Representatives of Azerbaijani intelligentsia will join the opposition electoral bloc, chairman of the Association of Azerbaijani Intelligentsia Eldeniz Guliyev told Trend.

"We support the election bloc. The Liberal Party of Azerbaijan and the Party of Citizens and development intend to create it. We have also decided to join the bloc. We believe that this bloc is a bloc of people who have kept their purity in politics. Their method of fighting is logical. We would like this election bloc to be transformed into a political bloc in future, " Guliyev said.

Chairman of the association spoke about candidates to be nominated by the organization

"We will pay more attention at qualitative index but not quantitative one. We will nominate about 10 people from our scholars, lawyers," Guliyev said.

The holding of parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan is scheduled for Nov. 7, 2010. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
