An ambassadorial meeting is a major event when Georgia's diplomatic missions from abroad meet with the heads of their government, Georgia Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said today.

"The government will set tasks before the ambassadors that have to be accomplished over the next political year," he said before the start of the meeting today at the Radisson in Tbilisi.

He added that the diplomats will meet with Georgian Parliamentary Speaker David Bakradze and Prime Minister Nika Gilauri on Sept. 9, as well as President Mikheil Saakashvili.

The FM noted that the ambassadorial coincides with the visit of OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut to Georgia, who will also speak before the Georgian ambassadors.

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet and Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will also attend the meeting.

"The diplomats must fulfill the following objectives - attracting investments and promoting democracy in the country," Vashadze said. "The foreign ministers of Finland and Estonia will share their experiences, particularly regarding cooperation with NATO and the EU."
