Georgia, Tbilisi, Sept. 24 /Trend, N.Kirtskhalia/
Georgian Parliament adopted a draft of the new Constitution of Georgia in the first reading today. 123 MPs voted for this decision and four - against.
The draft of the new Constitution was presented to MPs by Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili, who said that this Constitution is a big step towards reforming the state, strengthening the role of Parliament and ensuring equality between the branches of government in Georgia.
The opposition voted against because it believes that the new constitution does not contain a tendency towards strengthening premier institute. It should be noted that a number of opposition parties said that this constitution was adopted so that after completion of the presidential term in 2013, Mikhail Saakashvili would be able to take the post of prime minister.
