About 700 people become candidates in Azerbaijan's parliamentary elections

At present, the Central Election Commission (CEC) registered 695 people as candidates for Azerbaijani parliamentary elections, Mazahir Panahov, the CEC chairman, said at a meeting today.
He said that the commission refused from registering about 324 people.
Parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 7. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 electoral constituencies.
Panahov said that about 7,433 people applied to the district election commissions to monitor the elections.
