Funds allocated by State for protection of Azerbaijan's sea borders increased 20 times

Funds allocated by the State for the protection of the sea borders of Azerbaijan increased by 20 times, the head of Azerbaijan State Border Service (SBS), Lieutenant-General Elchin Guliyev told reporters on Tuesday.

"Azerbaijan completely provides its border security at its expense. We do not need any aid from outside," Guliyev said.

Guliyev said that SBS budget empowered the fulfillment of the set tasks and currently Azerbaijan closely cooperates with neighboring countries, particularly with Turkey

From the viewpoint of protection of state borders of Azerbaijan, 2010 is a very significant year, Guliyev said. This year, Azerbaijan and Russia signed a document on the delimitation of the state borders. "The State Border Service continues to execute tasks at a high level," Guliyev said.

According to the head of Service, about 30 frontier posts have been opened this year, the families of officers have been provided with housing.

According to him, the northern, north-western frontier posts have been equipped with the latest technologies. "The material and technical base of the SBS has been strengthened, new frontier posts have been created, better protect of the Azerbaijani borders have been ensured," said the head of SBS.

Today Guliyev attended the opening of the frontier post in Zukhuloba in Khudat border guard detachment of the SBS.
