Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 21 / Trend S. Agayeva /
CIS countries will maintain good neighborly relations, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu said today.
"We need platforms for people to communicate with each other and our foundation was formed for this purpose," Bulbuloglu said at a press conference of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund (IHCF) in Kiev, the press club of the CIS, Baltic States and Georgia under IHCF reported.
Bulbuloglu, as the chairman of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, noted that there were some positive factors in the Soviet Union, which included all of the CIS countries, despite many negative factors. Excellent conditions were created for education, culture, and the sciences, he said. There were common achievements. The intelligentsia was able to carry out various plenums and congresses. The Young Communist League, for example, was engaged in developing communication among young people, by preventing the spread of aggression, creating favorable conditions for many peoples to live together, the ambassador said.
"We have already held five forums for the CIS creative and scientific intelligentsia. They have shown that people have something to talk about and discuss some topics," he added.
The diplomat said the next forum will be held in Kiev in autumn 2011 and create opportunities for communication and understanding the processes taking place in Ukraine.
"This will give another opportunity for human interaction. It will enable our intellectuals to closer communicate with each other, and allow our youth to get to know each other better and develop joint projects," Bulbuloglu said.
Russian Presidential Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation, Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund Co-Chairman Mikhail Shvydkoi, Executive Director of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, Ambassador Armen Smbatian, and Ukrainian Culture and Tourism Minister Mikhail Kulinyak attended the conference.
Answering questions about the events held by the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund in recent days in Kiev and the results of the fund's board meeting, Bulbuloglu said the prestige of the fund is increasing. This is testified by the myriad appeals considered by the organization, he said.
"The concept was adopted both at the expert level and at a board meeting in Kiev. According to it, we must develop integration processes within the CIS and focus on programs affecting the youth," he said. "We have several large projects each year. They include the creative and scientific intelligentsia forum, the CIS Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Commonwealth of Debuts prize."
The year 2011 was declared the Year of Cultural Heritage. Special attention will be paid the restorers, people involved in preserving our cultural heritage. The fund plans to support television projects, TV conferences and the media.
Any and all integration projects for the peoples of the CIS are welcomed and supported by our fund, Bulbuloglu said.
