Turkmen Ambassador to Azerbaijan Toyli Komekovbelieves a new way of bilateral relations has been laid between Baku and Ashgabat in recent years.
"A new way of bilateral relations has been laid between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and mutual visits have become an important part of intensifying the fraternal and friendship ties," Komekov said on Monday speaking at an event on the occasion of the National Flag Day and the fourth anniversary of Gurbangulu Berdimuhammadov's election as the President of Turkmenistan.
"Relations between the two countries are developing dynamically. Cooperation in the energy sphere is important, as both countries are oil and gas powers," he said.
Further dynamic development of Turkmenistan, maintenance of high economic growth and improvement of citizen's welfare will be continued in the future, Komekov said.
"The two countries should expand cooperation between the parliaments," Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairman, MP Astan Shahverdiyev said. He added that the Azerbaijani side is ready to make efforts to create deeper and more intensive relations between the two countries' legislatures.
Turkmenistanwill celebrate the National Flag Day on Feb.19. The relevant decree was signed by former president Saparmurat Niyazov in 1994.
Turkmenistantoday celebrates the fourth anniversary of Berdimuhammadov's election as the President.
Turkmenistanrecorded momentous reforms and changes that have radically changed the face of the country just over these four years, Komekov said.
Komekov said Turkmenistan ensured a stable growth of the economy and now invests significant resources in the social sector. The country has successfully implemented the priority national projects in health, education, agriculture and housing. Turkmenistan has significantly strengthened its international position and sovereignty, as well as increased its influence on the processes occurring in the region and the world.
