Azerbaijan, Baku, March 10 / Trend A. Tagiyeva /

The demonstrations, which began in Iraq several weeks ago, were not caused by foreign intervention. They were caused by people's dissatisfaction with the government, director of the Al-Iraq Press agency in Germany, Abdullah al-Juburi, said.

"The protests, taking place in the country, are the result of incompetent rule of the government rather than outside interference," he told Trend over phone from Berlin.
The protests take place in Iraq for the last few weeks. They are not so numerous as in Tunisia, Egypt or Yemen. The participants do not call for to change the regime. But they are determined to force the government to end the corruption and establish provision of people with electricity, water, food and solve the problem with unemployment.

Iraq remained without a government because of politicians' disputes for nine months following the elections in March 2010. However, after a year several key ministerial posts remain vacant.

He said that the Iraqi people do not call for to change the current power, as it happened in other Arab countries.

"People call for reforms in the economic and social spheres. People do not strive for power change," he said.

The expert also emphasized that the Iraqi government has already promised to fulfill all conditions put forward by the people, within 100 days. After this period is expired, if the government does not undertake serious reforms, the people will hold new more serious demonstrations, " he said.

He also does not exclude that if people do not receive the required reforms, this time, perhaps they will demand resignation of the government.

"It is not ruled out that the Iraqis will demand leaving of the president and resignation of the government," he stressed.

Iraq's prime minister recently spoke on television. He reassured people that all the requirements of the Iraqi people will be fulfilled soon and there is no sense to participate in a demonstration.
