Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov at a government meeting criticized the organization of the Police Traffic Control Service's work, Miras national television channel reported on Saturday.
The President demanded from the Interior Ministry's leadership to take measures to correct the situation, stressing that "the role of thought-out and efficient work of the Police Traffic Control Service is increased in connection with the fact that the number of cars and trucks significantly increased on roads".
He reminded that the main tasks of this service is preventing traffic accidents, ensure safety and regulating traffic on roads, creating favorable conditions for the optimal distribution of traffic, driver training and control over maintenance of vehicles.
Berdimuhammadov said the Service's employees must also keep under control the cleanliness and order on streets and roads, ecological standards, contributing to reduction of harmful impact of vehicles in cities and towns on the atmosphere.
