Azerbaijani Deputy FM to partake in session of Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev will represent Azerbaijan at the session of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elkhan Polukhov told Trend.

The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Council of Europe's 47 member states will meet in Istanbul on Wednesday 11 May. In the framework of this meeting, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers, will also host a working dinner on Tuesday 10 May, the Council of Europe reported.

Before the session, the new "Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence" will be opened for signature.

Davutoglu will chair the meeting, which begins at 9.30 am on 11 May. Items on the agenda include: The Council of Europe: a strategy for values in action - Activity report by the Secretary General ; European Convention on Human Rights ;"Living together in 21st century Europe"- Report of the Group of Eminent Persons ; Neighbourhood policy of the Council of Europe.

At the end of the session Ukraine will take over the chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers from Turkey for the next six months. Minister Davutoglu will present a report on Turkey's achievements over the past six months and Kostyantyn Gryshchenko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, will present the priorities of his country.
