Azerbaijan, Baku, May 14 /Trend, T.Hajiyev/
It needs to conduct reforms in the Azerbaijani political parties, deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Siyavush Novruzov told Trend.
Goals and intentions of most opposition parties in Azerbaijan are not clear, said Novruzov.
"The parties have set the task to fight with the government. This is one of the duties of the parties. And what are the other duties? Should they settle social policy? Do they support market economy? The political parties in Azerbaijan do not make any suggestions. Therefore, I consider it necessary to conduct reforms in parties," said Novruzov.
According to him, after the reforms, many parties will cease to function. "Because the necessity for these will fall off. In Azerbaijan, maximum ten parties can function based on their own ideological directions. Today, in Azerbaijan there are about 100 parties, but most of them do not have the political direction," Novruzov said.
Because of the lack of political directions in parties, their union or separation takes a symbolic character, said a functionary of NAP.
"In the world, the parties united upon their views. Parties are divided into left, right or centrist. In Azerbaijan, the parties have not decided their political views, ideologies and other concepts," Novruzov said.
