Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have signed a package of bilateral documents in energy, transport, trade, cultural and humanitarian sphere, an official Turkmen source reported.

The signing ceremony took place following Afghan President Hamid Karzai's talks with Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov in Ashgabat.

The sides several documents, including a cooperation agreement between the Commerce Chambers of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, memorandum of understanding to further cooperate in the energy field between the governments of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan;

framework agreement on construction of the Atamurat - Imamnazar (Turkmenistan) - Akin - Andkhoy (Afghanistan) railway between the governments of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan;

cooperation agreement in culture and the arts, media and tourism between the governments of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

The two countries established Diplomatic relations on Feb.21, 1992.
