The Georgian Foreign Ministry has refuted information that allegedly a number of states have refused Georgia's request to change the country's name to "Georgia," Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a press conference today.

"We are aware that the issue of changing Georgia's international name is associated only with technical and financial difficulties. Our office has not received from any state any official information about the country's refusal to request," she said.

Georgia is negotiating the country's name change with countries that still call it "Gruziya."
