The Azerbaijan- Russia military cooperation is growing rapidly, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev said at a meeting with his Russian Counterpart Anatoly Serdyukov on Monday, the Ministry reported.
The sides discussed prospects for the military-technical cooperation, military-political situation in the region, Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and issue of extending the lease term of the Gabala radar station.
Abiyev praised efforts of Russia, particularly President Dmitry Medvedev's efforts on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution. He said these efforts raise hope for a peaceful resolution of the problem. He added that Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its army in parallel.
During his visit to Azerbaijan, Serdyukov has today visited the grave of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Alley of Martyrs.
