Georgia, Tbilisi, Nov.18 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /

The European Parliament adopted a resolution on Georgia, which several times indicated the term "occupation" towards Georgian territories - Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region on Thursday by a majority vote, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze told journalists on Thursday evening.

She said about 560 MEPs voted for the resolution, 20 were against and as many MEPs abstained.

"It is very important that the resolution indicates that Georgia as a sovereign country has the right to choose its future vector. The document three times indicates the term "occupation", as well as ethnic cleansing, and the fact that occupying power (Russia) is responsible for human rights violations in the occupied territories," Kalandadze said.

She said this document has both political and legal importance.
