Republic of Korea intends to develop relations with Azerbaijan in many areas, the President of National Assembly of Korea Park Hee-tae told journalists upon arrival in Baku on Thursday.

This visit is the first in the history of relations between the two countries over the period of Azerbaijan independence.

The 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries is celebrated this year.

Park Hee-tae noted that the two nations are brotherly.

"Azerbaijan is rich in energy resources, and Korea also has some economic success, our relations will develop in this context today," Park Hee-tae said.

Park Hee-tae plans to meet with the leadership of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan during the visit.

A visit to the Mall of Honor and to the Mall of martyrs, acquaintance with the sights of the capital and meeting with compatriots are also included in the visit.
