Kazakhstan intends to strengthen its cooperation with EU

Kazakhstan intends to strengthen its cooperation with the European Union on economic and political development, taking into account the considerable weight of the EU in foreign trade turnover of Kazakhstan and European investment attracted in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan said.

"We welcome the constructive approach of the majority of European MPs, who noted the importance of maintaining and strengthening the partnership based on equality and mutual respect in a recent review of the European Parliament resolution on relations with Kazakhstan," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan said

The statement noted that Kazakhstan remains committed to the path chosen from the first days of independence, - a movement towards greater democracy based on the rule of law, human rights and fundamental freedoms of all. The democratic changes became dominant of the social and political life and the full membership of Kazakhstan in the Venice Commission since March 13, 2012 clearly indicates a high level of achievement of the rule of law.

"We support the desire of the European Parliament to deepen cooperation with Kazakhstan, noting with satisfaction the recognition of the important role played by our country in ensuring regional stability by Members of European Parliament. We are convinced that a comprehensive partnership between Kazakhstan and the EU has long-term prospects," the statement said.

Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry also expressed hope for an early signing of a new agreement to expand the partnership between Kazakhstan and the EU, which will bring bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.
