Under the visit to Nakhchivan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended today the opening ceremony of the Nakhchivan-Julfa highway.
First, President Ilham Aliyev saw the road scheme layout.
The Head of State was informed that under the President`s instructions, series of events are being implemented in the regions to improve the highway infrastructure. Construction of the Nakhchivan-Julfa highway, which is one of the main highways, is of great importance.
The road is 32. 4 km in length, 25 meters in width. The width of the asphalt surface is 17.2 meters.
The four-lane road has 103 aqueduct installations. The construction of the highway which is the main section of the Silk Way is strategically important in growth potential of transit carryings.
Before, under his visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the head of the State has opened the Nakhchivan-Sadarak motorway.
The Head of State cut the ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the road and met with the residents.
Vasif Talibov, Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan informed the president about the achievements gained in Nakhchivan and thanked the Azerbaijani President for the care shown.
In his part, President Ilham Aliyev highly praised the work done.
Then, the President had a test drive.
