Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 1 / Trend M. Aliyev /
The first plenary meeting of the spring session of the Azerbaijani Parliament has started in Baku today. The Azerbaijani national anthem was performed at the opening session.
The meeting was opened by Speaker Oqtay Asadov. In his inaugural speech, he said that PACE rejected Strasser's report on political prisoners and said that it is a victory for the Azerbaijani people and country.
Asadov then spoke about Parliament's work plan of the spring session. The speaker said that some laws will be discussed during the session and annual reports of the Accounting Chamber, Ombudsman, municipalities and others will be heard.
The issue of accelerating the adoption of the law on 'Social mortgage' was raised at a meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
In particular, MP Fuad Muradov said that sufficient discussions were held in connection with this law.
"It is necessary to speed up the adoption of the law as society has a need for it," Muradov said.
It should be stressed that adopting the law on 'Social mortgage' has not been included in Parliament's schedule. The law envisages introducing a preferential mortgage for young families.
Today's agenda includes 12 issues to be discussed.
