Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today received former Prime Minister of France Dominique de Villepin.
The former French Premier praised development processes in Azerbaijan, noting that they left a big impression on him.
Former PM congratulated the Azerbaijani President on the launch of the country`s first communications satellite.
Dominique de Villepin said there were many projects for expansion of the France-Azerbaijan cooperation.
He expressed confidence the relations between the two countries would reach the level of strategic partnership.
The former French Premier praised the fact that Baku would host the inaugural European Games after the country organized the "Eurovision" song contest.
Dominique de Villepin said Azerbaijan played the role of a bridge between the West and the East, and praised the country's role in the peacemaking mission in Afghanistan.
President Ilham Aliyev praised the support of French information and communication technologies companies in the launch of Azerbaijan`s first satellite.
The Head of Azerbaijani State stressed the importance of the activities of French companies in Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev also noted the significance of long term cooperation projects between Azerbaijan and France.
