Georgia, Tbilisi, April 2 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

The Georgian Dream coalition has not yet started negotiations in connection with the selection of a presidential candidate, Defense Minister Irakli Alasania said on Tuesday.

According to him, the Georgian Dream coalition will determine the presidential candidate as a result of internal consultations and will not use the so-called primary method, that is, internal elections.
Alasania also commented on the model of government. As it is known, the Free Democrats is the only political force in the Georgian Dream coalition which supports not a parliamentary republic, but the presidential model. Alasania said if the majority supports the model of a parliamentary republic, the Free Democrats will not oppose it.

Presidential elections in Georgia are scheduled for October 1. According to various estimates, the coalition might nominate for presidency the chairman of the legal committee of the Parliament of Georgia, constitutionalist Vakhtang Khmaladze, ex-Foreign Minister Salome Zurabishvili or Irakli Alasania.
