Azerbaijani opposition Citizens and Development Party (CDP) decided on the nomination of the party chairman Ali Aliyev for the presidential election at a Monday meeting of the party council, the press service of the party told Trend.
The situation in the opposition camp ahead of presidential elections is no different from the situation observed in previous elections, chairman of the CDP said at a meeting.
Certain political forces due to their corporate interests hinder the opposition's efforts to unite, thus, purposefully reducing the opposition's chances of winning, Aliyev said.
The CDP believes the operational organisation and nomination of a single candidate is the best option for the opposition, the party chairman said.
The party's board meeting also presented a new party logo and flag which was approved.
