The Club of Madrid and the International Centre of Nizami Ganjavi signed a protocol on cooperation following the First South Caucasus Forum, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov said at a news conference on Wednesday.

The Club of Madrid and the International Centre of Nizami Ganjavi signed a protocol on cooperation following the First South Caucasus Forum, Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov said at a news conference on Wednesday.

"The Azerbaijani government will provide support for such events. The first South Caucasus Forum has successfully completed its work," Ibrahimov said.

According to him, the forum was of great importance in terms of Azerbaijan's worldwide recognition. The event showed that rapid development is being observed in all spheres of life in Azerbaijan.

Ibrahimov said the forum discussed the dialogue of civilisations, intercultural dialogue and tolerance issues. "Azerbaijan is demonstrating tolerance to the world and for this reason Baku was not chosen by chance. Activities to be undertaken in the future will contribute to the transformation of Baku into a centre of culture and dialogue.

In response, the former Dutch prime minister and the President of the Club of Madrid Wim Kok said the First South Caucasus Forum discussed issues related to religious and cultural differences. He also mentioned the large scale conference held earlier in Ganja, and noted its role in terms of increasing the position of women in social and economic life of the society.
