Turkey's ambassador to Germany Huseyin Avni Karslioghlu was summoned to the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the statements made by Turkey's Minister for EU Affairs Egemen Bagish over Berlin's policy with regards to Ankara, Hürriyet reported on Friday.
The night before, Egemen Bagish said in response to the criticism of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel about the alleged violent dispersal of protesters in Taksim Square that Merkel is using the situation in Turkey for personal purposes.
According to Bagish, Merkel deliberately uses tough expressions against the Turkish government to improve her image before the upcoming elections in the country.
