Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission approves one more presidential candidacy

At the Sunday meeting of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan, the candidacy of Ahmed Abdul oglu Oruj from Azadlig party for participation in the upcoming presidential election was approved.

At the Sunday meeting of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan, the candidacy of Ahmed Abdul oglu Oruj from Azadlig party for participation in the upcoming presidential election was approved.

The authorized representative of the Azadlig party was also registered.

Chairman of the CEC said that the CEC received a complaint for registration of chairman of Social Democratic Party Araz Alizade.

"Due to the fact that the documents of Alizade and other candidates are not in order, their candidatures will be considered at the next meeting", - Panahov said.

It should be noted that earlier, the documents of six candidates were presented to the Central Election Commission.

These candidates include: candidate of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party - Chairman of the party, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the candidate of Azadlig party - party's chairman Ahmed Oruj, the candidate from Citizen and Development Party, the party's chairman Ali Aliyev, Azerbaijan Liberal Party chairman Fuad Aliyev, lawyer Ilgar Mammadov (Altay), who put forward his candidacy on his own initiative and the chairman of Umid party, Igbal Aghazade.

Azerbaijani citizens who have the voting right (active or passive), initiative group of voters, political parties, blocks of political parties have the right to nominate the candidacy for participation in the presidential elections.

Earlier, the CEC decided to hold presidential election on October 9. Previous presidential elections were held on October 15, 2008.

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan are held every five years.
