The 22nd anniversary of Tajikistan's independence was marked in Azerbaijani capital of Baku on Wednesday.

The ambassador of Tajikistan in Azerbaijan Zohir Saidov said that Azerbaijan and Tajikistan has friendly and fraternal relations, based on historical roots.

The ambassador noted that Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are carrying out joint effective activity in the majority of international organizations. According to him, the sphere of fight against international terrorism holds the main place in the cooperation of the two countries.

The ambassador expressed confidence in the further development of relations between the two countries in a friendly and fraternal spirit.

During his speech at the event Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev noted that the relations in the sphere of politics, economy and culture have been rapidly developing in recent years.

The minister noted that last year the trade turnover between the two countries reached $44 million. According to him the meetings of Azerbaijani-Tajik intergovernmental commission were effective enough, and important documents were adopted at the last meeting. These documents will facilitate to the deepening of relations.

Mustafayev also added that the restoration of Baku-Dushanbe flight will contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries.
