Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati met in Tehran with the Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan Elshad Iskanderov , news agency IRNA reported.
"The new Iranian government is interested in strengthening relations with neighboring and friendly Azerbaijan", the minister said.
Jannati said that there are deep religious and cultural ties between Iran and Azerbaijan.
"The relationship between the two countries in the field of culture is at a high level. Relationship in other areas continues to grow," Jannati said.
According to him, the rapprochement of the two countries will have a positive impact on the people of Iran and Azerbaijan.
"The media plays an important role in the development or worsening of relations between the countries. We would like to see the media contributing to the development of relations between our two nations."
Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Elshad Iskanderov expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Iran, and said that the representatives of the different religions peacefully coexist in Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan is interested in the development of cultural and political ties with Iran," Iskanderov said.
