Azerbaijan's policy on religious and ethnic minorities is a model for other countries, a Liberal Democratic Party representative in the British parliament Lord Mike German said, answering questions from The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS), on TAP, British investments in the Azerbaijani economy, Azerbaijan's policy on religious and ethnic minorities, Azerbaijan taking on the UN Security Council Presidency and its role on the protection of international security.

Azerbaijan provides an important example in the region and a buffer against intolerance, Lord German said.

According to the parliamentarian, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) provides additional energy security for the United Kingdom and significantly adds to the mix of supplies which are vital for our economy.

"Azerbaijan is to be congratulated on supporting the United Kingdom in meeting its present and future needs," Lord Mike German said.

According to him, the UK accounted for 44.1 percent of Foreign Direct Investment in Azerbaijan.

"It means the UK is a possible, serious and long term investor in Azerbaijan. That makes the relationship between the two countries one of significance," Lord German underscored.

"The west recognises the major contribution Azerbaijan has made to peace across the region and further afield. Azerbaijan's role on the UN Security Council and its upcoming presidency of the Council demonstrates it has significant global influence. This will undoubtedly be reflected in a growing perception across the rest of the world that it is a crucial peacemaker," Lord German said in conclusion.
