Int’l observers: Azerbaijani people make important decision aimed at country’s future

The International Organization of Asian Political Parties, including more than 300 parties of the Asia- Pacific countries, appreciates the presidential election in Azerbaijan, Secretary General of the international organization Chung Eu-Yong said at a press conference after the presidential election today.

"The mission monitored several polling stations," he said. "The mission members met with representatives of the presidential candidates. We have the impression that the elections in Azerbaijan were carried out within democratic terms and without any violations. Each candidate had the opportunity to present the platform to voters."

"Azerbaijani people actively voted," he said. "The technical equipment of polling stations was at a high level."

"Azerbaijani people made a very important decision on Oct. 9, which was aimed at the country's future," he said.

Azerbaijani presidential election was held on October 9. According to the results announced by Azerbaijani CEC after processing of ballots from 99.53 percent of polling stations, President Ilham Aliyev gathered 3,118,287 votes (84.59 percent).
