The Republican Party of Georgia, included in the Georgian Dream ruling coalition, will elect a new chairman and national committee on November 3.

The party told Trend that the National Committee will elect a new chairman who will replace Speaker of the Georgian Parliament David Usupashvili.

The National Committee and chairman of the Republican Party will be elected for 2 years.

More than 2,000 delegates, who will arrive in Tbilisi from different regions of Georgia, will elect around 35 members of the national committee by direct and secret voting.

The Republican Party of Georgia was founded in 1978. Vakhtang Dzabiradze, Ivlian Khaindrava, David Berdzenishvili were its chairmen at various periods. David Usupashvili is the current chairman of the party. The party is represented by Georgian Dream faction in the supreme legislative body.

The Republican Party of Georgia is a full member of the international political organization Liberal International (LI) and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE Party).
