Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Malaysian counterpart Anifah Aman discussed the intensification of consultation mechanisms and expansion of the legal framework between the two countries.

The discussions were held on June 6 during the visit of the Malaysian foreign minister to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malaysia in such areas as energy, tourism, culture, ICT and investments, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said.

The parties also agreed to intensify the cooperation in international organizations.

Mammadyarov briefed his counterpart about the negotiation process on the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expressed gratitude for supporting Azerbaijan's position in this conflict.

This is the second visit of the Malaysian foreign minister to Azerbaijan; Aman visited Azerbaijan in June, 2013 and discussed prospects for cooperation.

Malaysia opened its embassy in Azerbaijan in 2014. The embassy is headed by the country's chargé d'affaires, Harris Bin Alwi.
