Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Azerbaijan Salim Muslimov met with the chairman of the rapporteur group on health and social services of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CE) Ana Vukadinovich at the conference dedicated to implementation of the strategy and action plan on social cohesion in the Member States of the Council of Europe held in Baku, the ministry said Sept.11.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Council of Europe, according to the report.
Muslimov reported on the dynamics of socio-economic development of Azerbaijan based on concrete indicators, and noted that the development of relations with the Council of Europe is one of the directions of a successful foreign policy of President Ilham Aliyev.
The minister said that intensive cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe reflexes in the country's active accession to the progressive value systems of the organization related to human rights and social rights.
Azerbaijan so far has ratified 59 conventions of the CE, 52 of them are related to social rights. Azerbaijan, which is constantly reinforcing the status of the welfare state, is interested in taking all CE initiatives aimed at social welfare.
Vukadinovich expressed satisfaction with the fact that Azerbaijan continues the tradition of hosting international events, including the issues of social cohesion.
It was noted that the conference devoted to the implementation of the strategy and action plan for social cohesion in the Member States of the Council of Europe held in Baku, is the first advanced event in 2014, which involves all Europe in this issue.
The Conference is of particular importance in terms of the exchange of experience between the member states.
The sides exchanged views on issues of mutual cooperation at the meeting.
