A delegation headed by Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, on a visit to the U.S, met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the ministry said Oct. 27.
The issues of organizing the first Global Forum on Youth Policy, to be held in Baku October 28-30 were discussed during a meeting.
Rahimov provided information about the success in the youth and sports policy implemented in Azerbaijan and future plans. He also informed about the first European Games to be held in Baku in 2015 and the preparation for these competitions.
Ban Ki-moon appreciated the work carried out in Azerbaijan, saying that such a policy is aimed at the development of Azerbaijan.
He stressed the important geo-strategic position of Azerbaijan and the country's role in the region. He also appreciated organizing the international events on various topics in the country.
Following the meeting, Ban Ki-moon asked him to convey his greetings to President Ilham Aliyev.
