Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev appointed Taleh Ziyadov the Director-General of the Baku International Sea Trade Port.

Elchin Mirzayev was dismissed from the post of Director General of the Baku International Sea Trade Port upon another presidential decree.

Meanwhile, a ferry terminal of the new International Sea Trade Port in Alat settlement was commissioned in autumn 2014.

The construction of the new International Sea Trade Port began in November 2010. It is being carried out in three stages. At the first stage, the transshipment volume of the port will hit 10 million metric tons of cargo and 50,000 containers per year.

At the second stage, the transshipment capacity will reach 17 million metric tons of cargo and 150,000 containers. Following the end of the third stage it will hit 25 million metric tons of cargo and one million containers per year.

Moreover, the establishment of a logistics center in the new port plays an important role in accordance with the project. At the initial stage, it is planned to store 100,000 containers and to render various services to the cargo owners.
