Biased position of Euronews towards Azerbaijan – regrettable, says MP

Baku, Azerbaijan, June 13

By Ilhama Isabalayeva - Trend:

It is regrettable that the Euronews TV channel took a biased position towards Azerbaijan and didn't cover the opening ceremony of the First European Games in Baku, Azerbaijani MP Fazail Aghamali told Trend June 13.

Euronews is broadcasted in many countries and has a sufficiently high rating, said the MP, adding that Azerbaijan also cooperates with this TV channel in various spheres.

"However, it is very surprising that the TV channel didn't cover the opening ceremony of the First European Games in Baku which made a great contribution to the European Olympic movement and the opening ceremony is remembered for its grandiosity," Aghamali said.

As can be seen, the anti-Azerbaijani forces have influenced the TV channel. "There is no other explanation to this."

The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28.

There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
