Azerbaijan interested in equal co-op with EU

In terms of promoting equal cooperation based on the mutual interests, Azerbaijan is interested in developing the bilateral relations with the European Union, Mahmud Mammadguliyev, Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister said.

He made the remarks during the informal meeting of the foreign ministers of Eastern Partnership countries in Minsk.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan 's deputy foreign minister touched upon the prospects for the country's cooperation with the EU on such issues as the mobility of citizens, the energy sector, creation of transport communications and trade relations, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

Mammadguliyev also stressed the importance of support by the international community and the EU to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within Azerbaijan 's internationally recognized borders and in accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council and other international organizations.

The European Union and Azerbaijan signed a visa facilitation agreement during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on November 29, 2013. They signed the agreement on the readmission of persons residing without authorization on February 28, 2014.

Aside from Azerbaijan, EU has signed such agreements with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Macedonia , the Republic of Moldova , Montenegro , Russia , Serbia , Ukraine, Georgia , Cape Verde and Armenia.
