Azerbaijan’s Interior Ministry will take all measures for public order on the Sept. 26 referendum day, said Deputy Interior Minister Oruj Zalov.

He made the remarks commenting on the Sept. 26 referendum at a meeting with the heads of district election commissions Aug. 18.

Earlier, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to hold a referendum Sept. 26 for making amendments to the country’s constitution.

Zalov said that on the eve of the referendum, illegal processions, rallies, pickets will be banned, and any attempt to hinder the voting will be prevented.

He also noted that registered groups can freely conduct campaigns.

On the referendum day, police officers will be on alert in order to prevent any attempt that hinders the voting, Zalov added.

The deputy minister said the law enforcement is assisting the collection of signatures for registration of campaign groups.
